Short tour: Spawning season in spring - reproduction of amphibians
A guided tour of the Vivarium provides insights into the spawning season of frogs, toads and newts. The development, habitats and adaptations of the animals are discussed. Various amphibian species can also be observed up close.

The zoo's vivarium invites you on an exclusive guided tour into the fascinating world of amphibians. Over 80 species can be discovered in four rooms with different temperatures. Experts provide exciting insights into keeping, breeding and species protection.
Guided tour of the visitor mine
Even though everything can be visited on foot, a tour is called a tour in miner's language. After a 30-metre-long cave tour, you are immersed in a world of stones, shimmering mountain lakes & fairytale-like, huge halls - the domes.

Evening tour of the zoo
What do the animals in the zoo actually do in the evening or at night? Who goes to sleep and who only really wakes up in the evening? These and other questions will be explored here. Suitable for children aged 12 and over.
Bird song hike
A guided bird call hike under the expert guidance of ornithologist Mr. Kronbach invites you to get to know local bird species acoustically and to consciously experience nature.

The guided tour of the Burattino Theater offers a look behind the scenes: Costumes, props and lively stories are created here. Educational theater games show creative processes, while questions are asked freely and content is designed flexibly.
Guided tour for children: through the exhibition mine
During the guided tour through the demonstration mine, we experience the world of miners up close. Between tunnels and machines, we show tools, explain mining and conveying technology and tell exciting stories about the hard work underground - loud and impressive.
City tour: In the footsteps of Karl May
A guided tour of selected Karl May sites in Hohenstein combines historical buildings with insights into Karl May's biography and brings the Ernstthal years of the famous writer to life - ideally complemented by a visit to the Karl May House.
Hike to the Karl May Cave
The hike to the Karl May Cave offers groups of up to 25 people a special experience. In around 4 hours, the tour can be ideally combined with a visit to the Karl May House.

Guided tours through Lichtenstein's underworlds
On guided tours, participants can explore the system of passageways beneath the cellars of the old town of Lichtenstein/Sa. The tours start every half hour. It is advisable to wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing. A flashlight may be used.
City tour
A one-hour tour of the town sheds light on its development from a farming village to an industrial town. Topics include the hosiery guild, local economic development, important connections to Dresden and the rise to a textile center. Meeting point: Esche Museum.
