Vacation program: Guided tour for children through the exhibition mine
On the guided tour through the demonstration mine, we experience the world of miners up close. Between tunnels and machines, we show tools, explain mining and conveying technology and tell exciting stories about the hard work underground - loud and impressive.
A look behind the scenes
The guided tour of the Burattino Theater offers a look behind the scenes: Costumes, props and lively stories are created here. Educational theater games show creative processes, while questions are asked freely and content is designed flexibly.

Vacation program: Mining lamp tour
We set off into the dark with helmets and head torches. Together we discover what our light cones make visible. Sounds become clearer, smells more intense - an adventure for all the senses. The tour is suitable for children aged 5 and over.

The open zoo school invites you to make exciting discoveries about big cats on Tiger Day. Learn more about their way of life and threats. Interactive stations and creative activities will delight the whole family.

Morning tour of the zoo
A morning tour of Chemnitz Zoo invites early risers to explore the park and answer exciting questions about the animals' sleeping habits and behavior; the 90-minute tour is aimed at children aged 12 and over and adults.
Vacation program: Out and about in the trails
How does a miner build a roadway? How is coal transported? Underground, children discover types of development and transportation routes. With team spirit, a functioning route is created in the "Dwarf Shaft" from wooden tracks, hunts and components for children to try out.
City tour: In the footsteps of Karl May
A guided tour of selected Karl May sites in Hohenstein combines historical buildings with insights into Karl May's biography and brings the Ernstthal years of the famous writer to life - ideally complemented by a visit to the Karl May House.
Hike to the Karl May Cave
The hike to the Karl May Cave offers groups of up to 25 people a special experience. In around 4 hours, the tour can be ideally combined with a visit to the Karl May House.
