This is a journey through the 1000-year history of the Saxon coal mining industry. You will learn how and where the coal was produced and how the "black diamonds" were used. You get to know new personalities and the demonstration mine.

Flag dedication ceremony and exhibition opening
The new miners' flag is solemnly consecrated - accompanied by miners and music. Afterwards, the exhibition "Coal Dust on Polaroid" opens, bringing 40 years of museum history to life in an impressive and atmospheric way.

The tour shows the everyday life of miners, from the start of the shift to the end of the day. Working conditions then and now are highlighted. The tour leads through the exhibition and the demonstration mine and ends underground with a drink and a game of cards.

Jan Kummer: Heimat Ensemble II
Resembling enlarged crown corks, the elements made of thin sheet metal fit together and become a work of art in a playful and ironic exaggeration. The arrangement is reminiscent of Mickey Mouse, and a little bit of naive tinkering with a cult factor.
