The new permanent exhibition CoalWorld
This is a journey through the 1000-year history of the Saxon coal mining industry. You will learn how and where the coal was produced and how the "black diamonds" were used. You get to know new personalities and the demonstration mine.

Historische Ausstellung
1997 wurde der Grundstock für die Sammlung gelegt. Die Idee für ein „Ziegelei- & Dorfmuseum“ entstand. Bürger gaben historische Gegenstände ab, die Ausstellung wuchs. Heute betreibt ein Förderverein das Museum mit Ringofen, landwirtschaftlichen Geräten u.v.m.

For the first time, this exhibition offers a comprehensive look at Michael Knauth’s collection. Paintings, prints, sculptures, and photographs—including many works never before exhibited—take visitors on a journey through approximately 100 years of regional art history.

Mouse Door-Opening Day
On Open House Day, KohleWelt invites visitors to help the mine mouse climb the tall winding tower. At various stations, visitors can explore objects related to the theme of “height” before making a souvenir. Tours start every half hour starting at 10 a.m.

Resembling enlarged crown corks, the elements made of thin sheet metal fit together and become a work of art in a playful and ironic exaggeration. The arrangement is reminiscent of Mickey Mouse, and a little bit of naive tinkering with a cult factor.
