On the trail of knights, manufacturers and scholars
The listed Mylau Castle is the only almost completely preserved and largest castle complex in the Saxon Vogtland region, making it an outstanding architectural monument and the museum's most important exhibit.

Mylau Castle will be the venue for the exhibition "Gesprächsstoff(e)" by the LAG Queeres Netzwerk Sachsen. It impressively shows the realities of life of lsbtiq* people - with personal quotes, fabric art and space for exchange and understanding.
Museum presentation of the Mylau Castle collection
Behind the scenes, the museum houses an almost endless collection of historical objects. Some of them are presented to all visitors in the permanent exhibition.
26th Medieval Castle Festival Mylau
Craftsmen, traders, knights, musicians, jugglers and fire artists set up their tents to take visitors back to times gone by. There is plenty for children to experience: Candle making, carving, archery & crossbow shooting or a ride on the historic carousel.

The Syrau windmill is a must-see on Open Monument Day! Built over a century ago, it is a technical gem. Between wooden cogwheels and millstones weighing tons, an elevator, chutes and sieves made the miller's work easier.
