A dream for medieval fans
Gnandstein Castle is probably one of the best-preserved Romanesque fortifications in Saxony. The fortress high above the Wyhra is a dream come true for medieval enthusiasts. The history of the castle goes back over 800 years. It was inhabited for around 700 years.

Public guided tour of the castle
During the tour through the medieval castle complex & the historic living quarters, you will learn about life at the castle through the centuries. You get an overview of the exhibition areas, the fortifications and the late Gothic chapel.
A family day to join in, marvel and experience
"Of knights, maidens and secret chambers" - there are activities for the whole family everywhere, stories on the spinning wheel or listening to the "Breath's of Green" in the castle chapel, you can slip into costume or try on a knight's armor and much more.

Night tour: The hard work of the gatekeeper
At an advanced hour, gatekeeper Michaelus takes guests back to times long past and provides an insight into some of the mysterious corners of the medieval fortifications. A glass of wine and a plate of soup are served with the flair of the castle at night.
