Archaeology in Saxony
The smac permanent exhibition shows Saxony's history from hunters and gatherers to industrialization on 3000 m². 6200 exhibits, the floating sculpture of Saxony and a section of the earth's strata bring the cultural and historical development to life.

From rubble and ashes
To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the war, the smac is exhibiting objects that document the suffering and destruction of the Second World War. Exhibits from prisoner-of-war camps and layers of rubble from Saxon cities were recovered during excavations.

The history of the Schocken department store
The smac dedicates separate exhibition areas to Erich Mendelsohn, Salman Schocken and the department store group. In curved bays along the window front, timelines provide a chronological orientation to the history of the building and its protagonists.

The creative workshop for the special exhibition Silberglanz & Kumpeltod in the foyer of the smac is open to everyone. The play and craft activities range from painting wooden stars, searching for treasures in the sand, mineral memory to building Lego® tunnels and much more.
